Sharing menus: how to choose for 2, 4 or a group

Eight menus, from 13,00 € to 30,00 € per person. We explain what each one includes and which one fits best depending on how many you are and what you like.

Sharing dishes is one of the best ways to eat: you try more, you talk more, and no one is left wanting what the person next to them ordered. That's why sharing menus are so successful. If you're looking for a sharing menu in Dénia, here are the eight offered by El Mosset, what each one includes, and how to choose according to how many you are and what you fancy.

How El Mosset's menus work

Before choosing, it's advisable to know the conditions, because they are the same for all menus:

  • Price per person. The à la carte amount is multiplied by the number of diners.
  • Minimum 2 diners. Not served for a single person.
  • A single menu per table. The entire table shares the same menu, which is designed for sharing.
  • Drinks not included. Drinks are ordered separately.

The menus are also on the homepage, in the section of El Mosset menus, presented as blackboards.

The eight menus, one by one

Menu Price per person What it contains

Fun Menu €17.00 Escalivada with flame-grilled dried salted cod, house pickled anchovies, montaditos with sobrasada (cured sausage) and grilled lacón, Galician-style pig's ear, patatas pobres with ham
Rotas Menu €18.00 Tomato salad with dried salted cod, fried anchovies, baby squid, patatas pobres with prawns and young garlic
Vegetarian Menu €20.00 Vegetarian salad, battered Tudela artichokes, eggplant mille-feuille with goat cheese and «Montgó» honey, wild asparagus with young garlic, truffled cheese and fried egg
Vintage Menu 22,00 € Cabrales cheese and anchovy salad, Iberian ham and Manchego cheese, mushrooms stuffed with Camembert and lacón (cured pork shoulder), battered cod with escalivada and potato base
Rustic Menu 24,00 € Cantabrian anchovies, national cheese board, Padrón peppers, patatas pobres, suckling kid chops
Dénia Menu 26,00 € Salted fish salad, Dénia fried anchovies, garlic prawns, grilled cuttlefish roe with green sauce, tuna and prawn stew in white wine
Mosset Menu 30,00 € Perelló tomato with pickled bonito, Marina cured meats, Iberian ham and cheese, Santoña anchovies, patatas pobres with green sauce, Simmental beef entrecôte

Which menu to choose according to what you like

If you want bar snacks without complications

The Tapas Menu (13,00 €) is the simplest and most economical. It brings together brewery classics: marinera (Russian salad with anchovies), house croquettes, stuffed mushrooms, montaditos (small sandwiches), and patatas a lo pobre (poor man's potatoes). It's ideal for an informal dinner or for someone visiting for the first time and wanting to try a bit of everything.

The Fun Menu (17,00 €) goes a step further with traditional local flavors: flame-grilled dried salted cod with escalivada, pickled anchovies, and Galician-style pig's ear.

If the sea calls to you

For those who come to Dénia looking for a taste of the sea, there are two clear options. The Rotas Menu (18,00 €) combines tomato with dried salted cod, fried anchovies, baby squid, and potatoes with prawns. The Dénia Menu (26,00 €) is the most seafood-focused of all: salted fish, Dénia fried anchovies, garlic prawns, cuttlefish roe, and a tuna and prawn stew in white wine.

If you're meat-eaters

The Rustic Menu (24,00 €) finishes with suckling kid chops after anchovies, cheeses, and Padrón peppers. The Mosset Menu (30,00 €), the most complete, finishes with Simmental beef entrecôte after a journey through Perelló tomato, Marina cured meats, and Santoña anchovies.

If there are vegetarians at the table

The Vegetarian Menu (20,00 €) does not include meat or fish in its description: vegetarian salad, Tudela artichokes, eggplant mille-feuille with goat cheese and honey, and wild asparagus with truffled cheese and fried egg. Note: it contains egg and cheese, so it is vegetarian, not vegan. If there is any allergy at the table, mention it beforehand.

If you're looking for a middle ground

The Vintage Menu (22,00 €) mixes a bit of everything: salad with Cabrales cheese and anchovies, Iberian ham and Manchego cheese, stuffed mushrooms, and battered cod over escalivada. It's a good choice when there are varied tastes at the table.

How to choose depending on how many you are

For 2 people

With a minimum of two diners, any menu is possible. If it's a quiet dinner for two, the Menú Divertido (Fun Menu) or the Menú Rotas are a good balance between variety and quantity. If it's a special occasion, the Menú Mosset is the complete bet.

For 4 people

With four, the key is to find a menu that everyone likes, because only one can be chosen per table. Talk before arriving: if someone doesn't eat fish, discard the more seafood-focused menus; if there are vegetarians, the Vegetarian Menu or an à la carte order might work better.

For a group

How to finish off the menu with the à la carte options

The menus do not include dessert or drink in their description, so there is room to finish the meal to your liking. Some ideas from the homemade dessert menu:

  • Cheesecake with Montgó honeys (gluten-free), for €7.00.
  • Traditional torrijas, for €6.00.
  • Grandma's pumpkin coca with chocolate, for €6.00.
  • Valencian cake "Pastelería Vimar", for €6.00.
  • Ice creams from "Heladería Verdú" of nougat, lemon or chocolate, for €4.50 / €5.00.

If you are among those who don't get full, you can also order some à la carte dish for the table separately. A freshly made potato omelet (4 servings, €18.00) or some rosemary Padrón peppers (€7.50 / €15.00) are easy to share and fit with almost any menu. Of course, order the menu first and see how you go: it's usually more than enough.

A tip for getting it right

Before arriving, look at the list of dishes as a group and discard any menu that has something someone doesn't eat. Since there is only one menu per table, that small prior agreement saves you discussion at the table.

Set menu or à la carte: when each is suitable

  • The set menu is suitable when you want to try several dishes without thinking too much, when you are a group or when you prefer to know the price from the beginning.
  • The à la carte menu is suitable when there are very different tastes at the table, an allergy or intolerance, or when you fancy something specific, like a sandwich or a stew/spoon dish.

If you want to compare, in the full menu encontraréis todos los platos sueltos. Y si nunca tenéis claro cuánto pedir, os ayudará nuestro artículo sobre cómo leer una carta y pedir bien. En la guía de precios tienes además los precios de toda la carta, sección a sección.

Whatever you choose, at El Mosset, a restaurant in the center of Dénia, the menu is designed for the table to be filled with dishes and shared.
